What Gifts Mean Porn to a Writer?

Posted on Dec 13, 2016 by   No Comments Yet | Posted in Uncategorized

untitled-design-2untitled-design-4Oh yes, writers have their own kind of longing, can’t get enough of, tingling up the spine gifts they search for online, in catalogs and craft shows. If you are a writer or hope to be one someday you understand the desire for all things creative. I have a big family and none of them think of this as they shop for me during Christmas, birthdays or special occasions (like during a new book release!).

Walking through Staples, Best Buy and even Target can be a religious experience for a writer. So this week I’m going to toss some ideas out there that will push you to the top of the “They really get me,” list. You’ll be smiled upon fondly and remembered as the one who always comes through. The picture of Daryl from The Walking Dead is just on my wishlist, not really something every writer wants. Or is it? You decide.

*Starbucks Coffee Gift Card

*Cups or Travel mugs with clever sayings like “Pay no attention to my browsing history. I’m a writer not a serial killer,” or “Need a hero, invent one, better yet, be one.” You get the picture.

*Pens, pencils, sticky notes, fancy stapler, YOU know DESK STUFF. It’s like candy to a writer.

*Amazon or other book stores gift cards.

*Warm socks or house shoes. I don’t wear shoes when I stay home and write.

*Teas, coffee (I love Ganoderma!), specialty creamers, with a fancy spoon rest. You can find Novel Teas which contains 25 teabags individually tagged with literary quotes from the world over from Bag Ladies Tea on Amazon. Very cool.

*Manicure. Every time the writer sits down they’ll think of you when they notice their pretty nails.

*Journals, notebooks, tablets (for their purse or car when the next inspiration strikes).

*Charm bracelet for writers. My writing group started me one. Different charms and colored beads for my successes in writing just blew me away. I love it.

*New laptop or tablet

untitled-design-3*Hire a website designer for your writer. They need one and can’t afford it.

*Vista Print gift card. Trust me. They’ll know what to do with this.

*Thumb drives (flash drives) that are funky and fun. I recently saw one that looked like a Star Wars character and another that was one of the ships. Leopard print and a variety of other themes are available.

*The Writer’s Toolbox: Creative Games and Exercises for Inspiring the ‘Write’ Side of Your Brain by Jamie Cat Callan.

*Comfy Pants. Use your imagination here.

*Writing guide books or magazine subscriptions. I use Southern Writers, Writer’s Digest & The Writer. All help me keep up with trends, conferences, contests and how to be a better writer.

*Literary Passport or Luggage Tags – I travel a great deal. Great ideas! I bought my own.

*Literary T-Shirt

untitled-design-5*Scrabble Magnets for the refrigerator. I wouldn’t like this because I like a clean surface, but I know plenty of writers who could really get into this.

*Write a review for an author’s book. Remember if you can’t say anything nice then skip this one. Amazon really pays attention to reviews. It pushes the writer’s book further out into the public so that others notice. Have your friends write one too if they’ve enjoyed the book. You have no idea how this makes us feel!

So there you have it. I would love to hear about some other gifts that you plan to give your writer friend. Maybe you are the writer. What gift would you like to see under the tree?
