Skinny Author’s Book Review – December

For several months I’ve featured a number of authors and their books, letting them post a favorite review and posting a blurb about the story line. When I do one of these I refuse to post something negative. I understand how difficult getting a bad review can be to the creative juices which define us as a writer. Most people don’t understand how a few lines of negativity can send an author spiraling and maybe even quit writing. Don’t have something nice to say? Then please keep the review to yourself. Here are some of the books I’ve enjoyed and hope you’ll check them out in the coming year.

Brooding School Blues by Willy Robbins – This is a very cute children’s book about starting school. Would be a good choice for that little kiddo looking to start classes in the next year.

Defiance (Thirteenth Legion Series Book1) by Eric Gardner – A little bit horror and a little bit Indiana Jones, Gabriel Willis comes to realize evil comes in many forms. Set some time aside for this series. Thriller/Horror

What Kind of Loser Indie Publishes, and How Can I Be One, Too? (Writing, Publishing, Promotion) by Pamela Fagan Hutchins – If you’re thinking about indie publishing then please read this book! Entertaining. Informative. We all need this kind of encouragement while having a good laugh. You can do this!

Claimed by the Cyborg (Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance Book 5) by Cara Bristol – If you are tired of the ho-hum romance then you’re in for a treat with Cara Bristol’s SciFi romances. All of her books are character driven and this one is no different. Try all of this series. Enough steam to make your heart skip a beat and make you want more.

The Blood Gospel: The Order of the Sanguines Series by James Rollins & Rebecca Cantrell – I admit I wasn’t happy when I realized one of my favorite authors teamed up with Rebecca Cantrell. He was one of the reasons I decided to be a writer. But I loved this three-book series. Weaving the gospel into modern day events with vampires and historical events turned out to be a recipe for excitement. I’m not a vampire fan but this was just awesome! This is now one of my favorite books. Love these authors so much.

One Second After (A John Matherson Novel) by William R. Forstchen – This book will change how you prepare for the future. After a pulse hits the US, a series of events changes the lives of a North Carolina community. This is not a happy book but one everyone should read because it is so powerful. Beautifully written and will force you to think about your ability to survive.

So many books and so little time. Check these out and let me know what you thought about them. Remember to leave a positive review for the books you love. Think twice before hitting an author upside the head with a negative one
