Are You a Serial Killer?

I know you probably envision dead bodies laying all over the place about now. What I meant to say is, do you find a book series you love and attack it with passion and with such enthusiasm that you might commit a crime if someone interrupted you? Are you endanger of becoming a Dateline Episode? Book series does weave a sort of magical spell over us at times. I know when I read a Vince Flynn book with my favorite character Mitch Rapp, I start channeling that inner…well you’ll have to read them to understand. I don’t want to spoil it. I will say ever since I learned the character drove an Audi in a number of the stories, I think I should have one too.  Although Lori Robinett isn’t on the list below, I have to tell you she tells a really good story!

Here are some of the most popular and best-selling series of all time:

  1. Harry Potter
  2. Goosebumps
  3. Perry Mason
  4. The Bernstein Bears
  5. Choose Your Own Adventure
  6. Sweet Valley High
  7. Noddy
  8. Nancy Drew
  9. The Railway Series
  10. The Babysitters Club
  11. Star Wars
  12. The Tale of Peter Rabbit
  13. Chicken Soup for the Soul
  14. Frank Merriwell Books
  15. Dirk Pitt Books

Many of my favorite series aren’t on the list. I’ll just mention the authors here.

  1. James Rollins
  2. Steve Berry
  3. Vince Flynn
  4. Brad Thor
  5. Daniel Silva
  6. Lee Child

See a pattern forming? I’ll have to say these authors helped me become a writer. I would read their stories and think, “Man if I could only write like that!” Well here’s a news alert: YOU NEVER WILL. I had to learn that I have to write my own words, my own series and entertain myself while loving what I do.

Today I’m putting #4 of the Enigma Series for FREE ON KINDLE. I hope you’ll take advantage of this. Here is a little teaser for you.

Tessa Scott thought taking her children to Squaw Valley for a skiing trip would be a great way to relax. Reconnecting with her family turned out to be more of an adventure than she’d planned when several men followed her onto a snow-packed highway. After meeting a stranger at a convenience store, she convinced him to help her get away, only to discover later, the stranger was the bigger threat.

  1. I hope I don’t end up on a Dateline Episode. But I do love that show. And I do love series books. As long as it’s a good story, I’m game. Reading a bestseller now but still trying to figure out why it’s a bestseller, and why I’m reading it. It has to connect somehow, right? I find myself skipping over now.
